The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before the battery is fully discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power left to start the engine.
Automatic 12/24V detection
The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage.
Easy programming
The BatteryProtect can be set to engage/disengage at different voltages. The 7-segment display shows the selected setting.
A special setting for lithium-ion batteries
In this mode, the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a load disconnector between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See wiring diagram in the manual.
Ultra-low current consumption
This is important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, especially after a low voltage shutdown.
Overvoltage protection
To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage exceeds 16V or 32V respectively.
Ignition protected
No relays, but MOSFET switches and therefore no sparks.
Delayed alarm
The alarm is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnection level for more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine therefore does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit-proof open collector output connected to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate a buzzer, an LED or a relay.
Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection
The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises again to the connection threshold within this timeframe (after the engine has started, for example), the load will not be disconnected. The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has risen to more than the preset reconnection voltage.
