Informatie over battery monitors
Why a battery monitor?
Voltage alone says little about how much capacity your battery still has. A 12V battery showing 12.6V can still be half full or almost empty, depending on the battery type and the load. A battery monitor measures the actual State of Charge by accurately tracking all current flowing in and out of the battery – just like a fuel gauge in your car, but for your house battery.
Victron SmartShunt — smart monitoring via your phone
The Victron SmartShunt is a compact battery monitor without a physical display. It measures current, voltage, state of charge and temperature, and sends all data wirelessly via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app. Ideal for installations where space is limited or where you don't want to install a display. The SmartShunt integrates seamlessly into the Victron ecosystem.
Victron BMV-700 — classic with fixed display
The BMV-700 is a proven battery monitor with a built-in display that you mount directly in your camper or boat. The display shows voltage, current, state of charge and the remaining time at the current load. No phone needed – all information is available at a glance.
SmartShunt or BMV-700 — which suits you?
Choose the SmartShunt if you prefer to monitor via your phone, want to save space, or want to integrate the data into a larger Victron system. Choose the BMV-700 if you want a fixed, independent display that is always available without a smartphone. Both measure equally accurately – the difference is purely in how you want to read the information.
