Why a battery monitor?
Voltage alone says little about how much capacity your battery still has. A 12V battery showing 12.6V can be half full or almost empty, depending on the battery type and load. A battery monitor measures the actual State of Charge by accurately tracking all current flowing in and out of the battery — just like a fuel gauge in your car, but for your house battery.

Hoe nauwkeurig is een accumonitor?
De monitor meet via een shunt in de minlijn en houdt alle inkomende en uitgaande stroom nauwkeurig bij. Eenmalig synchroniseren met een volledig geladen accu. Na die synchronisatie is de meting nauwkeurig tot op 0,1% van de gemeten stroom, ook bij langdurig gebruik.
Bij een lithium accu met BMS is de accumonitor een aanvulling op de interne BMS. De BMS bewaakt de cellen, de accumonitor geeft jou inzicht in het verbruik en de laadstatus vanuit gebruikersperspectief.
Moet ik een accumonitor installeren of kan ik ook zonder?
Technisch kun je zonder, maar je vaart blind. Zonder monitor weet je niet hoeveel capaciteit er nog over is, of je laadmethodes correct werken en wanneer je accu leeg dreigt te lopen. Zeker bij lithium — spanning blijft lang stabiel en daalt pas op het laatste moment — is een accumonitor geen luxe maar een noodzaak.
Een accumonitor is ook een uitstekend diagnose-instrument. Als je verbruik hoger is dan verwacht of je accu sneller leeg loopt dan normaal, zie je dat direct in de data — zo spoor je snel een probleem op in je installatie.
Werkt de accumonitor ook met meerdere accu's parallel?
Ja. De shunt wordt in de hoofdminlijn van het volledige accupark geplaatst zodat alle stroom erdoorheen loopt. De monitor ziet het geheel als één accu en geeft de gecombineerde laadstatus weer. Stel de totale capaciteit van het accupark in voor een correcte berekening.
De shunt wordt altijd in de minlijn geplaatst, zo dicht mogelijk bij de accu. Alle verbruikers en laadmethodes worden aan de andere kant van de shunt aangesloten — zo meet de monitor alle stroom die in en uit het accupark stroomt.
