Informatie over boilers
Hot water without gas
An electric 12V boiler connects directly to your leisure battery. It heats water via an electric heating element. No gas line, no pressure regulator, no burner, no CO risk. For DIY builders, installation is simpler, safer, and requires less specialized knowledge than a gas installation.
Consumption — plan this carefully
An electric boiler draws a lot of power when heating water, but it doesn't take long — a small boiler reaches temperature in 15–30 minutes. Plan heating for times when you are driving or when the solar panels are producing well. Don't leave the boiler at temperature all day if you only need it briefly — that wastes unnecessary power.
Capacity and use
A small 6-liter boiler is sufficient for washing hands and a quick rinse. If you want to shower comfortably, you'll need more capacity. Choose based on your daily use and available battery capacity — a larger boiler requires more power to heat up.
Installation — simple but mind the fuse
Connect the boiler to the leisure battery via a separate fuse in the positive line. Choose the cable thickness based on the maximum current demand and cable length. Preferably mount the boiler close to the battery and use a separate switch or timer to control consumption.
