Product information

Product description

Protects the battery from over-discharge and it can be used as an on/off switch system. The Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before the battery is completely discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power left to start the engine. The input/output can be used as an on/off switch system.

Automatic detection 12/24V/DC

The Smart BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage only once.

Bluetooth: easy programming

When using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect, all required enable/disable levels can be set. Alternatively, one of the nine predefined switch-on/off levels can be set with the programming pin (see manual). If necessary, Bluetooth can be turned off.

Instant Readout (read directly)

VictronConnect can display the key data of the Smart BatteryProtect on the device list page without the need to connect to the product. This includes visual messages of warnings, alarms and errors that enable immediate diagnosis.

A special setting for lithium-ion batteries

In this mode the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: the BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See connection diagram in the manual.

Super low power consumption

This is important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, especially after a low voltage shutdown.

Overvoltage protection

In order to prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage exceeds 16 V or 32 V respectively.

Protected against ignition

No relays, but MOSFET switches and therefore no sparks.

Delayed alarm output

The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, starting the engine does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is an open-collector, short-circuit proof output connected to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50 mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate the buzzer, an LED or relay.

Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection

The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the battery voltage drops below the preset level. If the battery voltage rises back to the coupling threshold within this time frame (after the engine has been started, for example), the load will not be disconnected. The load will be reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has risen above the preset recoupling voltage.
